NICE GUY
STATEMENT
Collage is my spirit animal. My art is about picking up the pieces and creating something new, looking on the past and learning from it, to find joy in the new experiences we gain from the trials and tribulations we all experience.
My art is in the truest form of the DIY spirit, and it is to take leftovers, the disregarded, and created new art. Create a new object d’art using found objects, my own art, personal photographs, and appropriated imagery.
I upcycle the materials from paint to the canvases and seal them all in resin.
My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, discover beauty in unusual places, and take care of it.
Brief Bio
Aaron Dunkel has always been addicted to the art of image-making, photography, and design. From humble beginnings in his makeshift darkroom and painting studio, he turned his passion for photography and the arts into reality. After graduating Pratt Institute, Aaron jumped right into the field of post-production in the fast-paced world of commercials. He quickly moved up to be senior editor working with GREY, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis, and DDB. Using all of the experience gained through the years, Aaron returned to his roots of painting and photography. He has been working with his photographs, found objects, and painting to create his unique art. Aaron contributes much of his inspiration to his home-base of Jersey City.
